Fatal Car Accident In Las Vegas Today – Las Vegas, Nev. (FOX5) – US 95 northbound in Jones was closed Wednesday morning, according to Nevada State Police.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 4:45 a.m. on US 95 northbound at Summerlin Parkway.

Nevada State Police said initial reports indicated a dark-colored Jeep was traveling southbound on US 95 and Summerlin Parkway. Witnesses told authorities that the Jeep, which was driving recklessly, struck the back of a silver Toyota.

Officials said the jeep overcorrected and overturned on impact. The vehicle then came to rest on its roof in the travel lane of US 95. A white Toyota was northbound on US 95 when the Jeep stopped in the travel lane and struck the front of the Jeep, police said.

A FOX5 photographer at the scene of the accident saw the dog being taken away by animal control officers. Nevada State Police said the dog was inside the white Toyota and was not injured.

Northbound US 95 was closed and all traffic was blocked at Jones. Seven of the nine people killed in a multi-vehicle crash in North Las Vegas were family members, including four children and three adults, police and families said Sunday.

Authorities Say Dog Killed In Single Vehicle Rollover Crash In Las Vegas

A Dodge Challenger that ran a red light more than 100 miles north on Commerce Street at 35 mph Saturday afternoon, fatally injuring two other people, crashed on Chennai Avenue, authorities said. Four people were injured in separate vehicles, police said.

North Las Vegas Police Chief Jacqueline Gravatt said, “My condolences go out to the family and everyone involved in this terrible incident.” “It affects the entire country as a community and as a valley,” he said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified eight of the nine people who died in Sunday night’s crash. The passenger in the Toyota Sienna was Fernando Yeshua Mejia (5). The driver of the Challenger was identified as Gary Dean Robinson, 59, of North Las Vegas. As of Sunday night, the occupants of the Challenger had not been identified.
